Gilderhus
In this article that I read Mark T. Gilderhus goes on and identifies three reasons why people study history. The first one he talks about is about a man named Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel which he thought that "the only thing we learn from history is that no one learns very much about history. The second one Gilderhus identifies is that historians have similarities between the past and the future. Which a philosopher from Harvard said "people who forget about the past are condemned to repeat it." The third one he identifies is story telling. Basically what he means by this is that it goes all the way back to ancient times when the inhabitants of earth have told stories about themselves. With the stories they get told down the line which can make history for people in modern day because of the tails told throughout the years.
I love history coming out of high school I wanted to go to college and become a history teacher, or do something with history. The reason I love history is because I think it repeats itself. So going back when Gilderhus identifies one of them as similarities between the past and the future I sit here and say this is why I love history. I love how it's not a math rule where it is one thing all the time History is never the same. Somebody is out in this world making new history or repeating the old.
